Accessibility
Handled aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This page describes what that means in practice, and what we know is not yet finished. We would rather name a gap than let you find it.
What is in place
- Keyboard. Every control can be reached and operated without a mouse, focus is always visible, and a skip link jumps past the header to the main content.
- Reduced motion. If your system asks for reduced motion, the scroll choreography stops and the same content is presented as stills. Nothing is lost by turning motion off.
- Text size. Type is set in relative units, so raising your browser's text size scales the page rather than clipping it.
- Contrast. Body and small text are checked against the 4.5:1 minimum, and larger text against 3:1.
- Colour is never the only signal. Where colour carries meaning it is paired with text or shape.
- Images and structure. Meaningful images carry descriptions, decorative ones are hidden from screen readers, and headings run in order.
- Without JavaScript. The site renders in full with scripting disabled.
Known gaps
- The animated backlog on the homepage is decorative. It carries a text description for screen readers, but the motion itself conveys an idea that the description states more plainly than it shows.
- We test with VoiceOver on Safari and with keyboard-only navigation. We have not yet completed a full audit with JAWS or NVDA on Windows.

If any part of Handled is difficult or impossible to use, write to hi@taskshandled.com and describe what you were trying to do, the assistive technology you use, and what happened.
